Car and driver reports on their blog today that Subaru’s Ts model targets BMW’s M power brand! Ts stands for tuned by sti, which seems a little redundant, but signifies a step above the standard sti. Though this model carries the same power plant. More info on Car and Drivers blog

Autoblog UK reported that Mark Higgins has broken the TT record for this road rally in a standard WRX  STi.

However, the event wasn’t without some peril as Higgins almost crashes hard as seen on these videos:

What I don’t understand is how calm and collected he is AFTER that save. I mean, I myself have had some crazy saves at the TRACK but on a city street with light poles everywhere. Also, who gave that co driver a tranquilizer shot before this ride because he was equally calm after that save!

So I was snooping around the Facebook universe when I ran into this video:

The driver’s name is Abdo Feghali and looks like he’s got a pretty well set up Rear Wheel Drive STi. A few things I noticed was it was pretty basic. Meaning, it had no competition roll cage, no racing / safety interior bits, or anything crazy. Also did a quick search on him and looks like he’s a Redbull Driver for Rally and looks like he’s their spokes person for Redbull in their drifting competition going on in Abu Dhabi. Looks like a simple demo vehicle. There are series of these videos on their website. Check it out when you have a chance.

Now this Dutch manufacturer has put together this racing prototype vehicle for homologation and it’s powered by an EJ20 STi motor on a 5 speed (we’re suspecting that it’s either the RA gears or a custom transmission – we would have opted for 6 speed) and it only weighs a dainty 1,875 lbs.

It can apparently go 0-60 at around 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 160mph (again, which backs up the RA Spec Gears theory). This can be yours for a banging $175,000.00!

Power to weight ratio is just about right but I don’t think it’s quite a super car with the weight. What’s your feedback?

Dave Mirra had an interesting weekend. Seemingly driving his 2011 Subaru STi like a pissed off teenager and being as aggressive as he could. It was amazing to see how hard he was driving and how he was able to really battle it out with the others. Subaru has released this video of his performance and you can see how close some of these battles really were.

We sometimes get a little upset that Japan get their “JDM” Versions of vehicles and us Stateside or everywhere else in the world gets to sit and watch Japan have their fun. Our friends at Speedhunters had a up close and personal shoot with the STi tS in Japan which really made some of here, quite jealous.

The tS has a few features that the regular STi doesn’t have including some tS specific exterior features.

The tS has a few other special features including suspension upgrades.

How does a factory twin scroll turbo set up sound? Nice huh? Wish we had this!

The interior jumped out to me. It was seriously a sports car like design. Red stitching, engine start button, and a very cockpit like design was really interesting!

I’ve seen multiple threads on forums begging Subaru of America making these seats as an option in USDM cars. I now see why.

Carbon roof anyone? Lower center of gravity, looks great, and well, it’s limited!

I always liked the lip wings on STi’s and the wheels have to be the best ones so far for the STi. I’m officially jealous. Check out the rest of the images at Speedhunters!

We saw some epic stuff from Global Rally Cross Round 2 in Seattle. With the rain, new ‘track’, and guys getting aggressive so they can make it to the Xgames finale we saw some intense competition.

So Check out this video that we found on Youtube with Dave Mirra with his destroyed rear end doing what he can to finish the heat! Enjoy!

News from Car and Driver about a UK only Subaru with a power boost and navigation called the STI 320R, it’s name spawning from it’s power in PS and torque. But like most enhancing goodies, emission standards keep us from it.

Safety is very strict in motorsports and for good reason. Jimmy Keeny was an unfortunate person who had to put the safety standards to the test. Autoblog had a quick triggered photographer that captured Jimmy’s flip at the recent Global Rally Cross. Luckily he walked away with no major injuries.
