With so many rumors going around it feels like Subaru High School but it’s because Subaru is so good about keeping their lips tight about so many things down the pipeline. There have been buzzings about their Subaru Hybrid Tourer which is focusing on their new design approach.

This is Subaru’s first attempt in making a super gas efficient vehicle. We’re uncertain if this Subaru is based off of the Legacy or Impreza Chassis but this may seem like a whole new platform.

Although these images are merely concept images, you can see where Subaru is going with their Impreza Concept and has applied their design theories onto this Subaru Hybrid Tourer.

Well, the Subaru Hybrid Tourer should be a big hit with its modern design but I’m sure that the concept will be different from the production model but we like where Subaru is going with this!

Speedhunters have to have one of the best coverage when it comes to events and they didn’t disappoint this year when it came to the Tokyo Auto Salon coverage. For those who don’t know what Tokyo Auto Salon is, let me put it this way… all the cool stuff that comes out of Japan for Performance, Racing, and Styling is debuted at this show. So, when it comes to trends, this is the epicenter.

This Legacy probably represents the “styling” aspect of Tokyo Auto Salon. It’s wild looks, low stance, and mean demeanor set the trends.

And here’s the Performance part of TAS. This particular example is based off the STi tS. Beautiful carbon roof, lightweight components, and tuned for endurance for the 24 Hour of Nurbugring. According to Speedhunters, Subaru’s theme is “Proud of Boxer” which I couldn’t agree with more!

Here’s the same car in the “street Spec”.

When Speedhunters post up more stuff, we’ll do post it up here!

With all these “buzzings” coming from the Toyobaru, Subaru has been pretty silent about their variant of the platform. Word is now that it IS going to be Rear Wheel Drive and we have mixed feelings about this platform because of that. Meaning that the Toyota and Subaru differences will only be by skin and that’s about it. What about an STi form?

Tokyo, January 14, 2011 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today announced that it will exhibit the “SUBARU IMPREZA CONCEPT” and the “Subaru Trezia” as European premieres at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show slated for March in Geneva, Switzerland (Press day: March 1 and 2; Open to the public from March 3 through 13, 2011). The “Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept” will also be showcased as a world premiere.

<Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept>

A Subaru rear-wheel drive sports car is currently under joint development as part of the business alliance with Toyota Motor Corporation. Based on an all-new platform, the vehicle will offer Subaru’s distinctive trademark and core technology: the “Horizontally-Opposed Subaru Boxer engine”. The concept embodies Subaru’s established know-how in manufacturing boxer-powered passenger cars; it shows how Subaru proposes to integrate this expertise into a rear-wheel drive car to offer a new and highly enjoyable, Subaru-like driving experience. The technology concept will demonstrate how the all-new car platform makes full use of Subaru’s engineering and Boxer technology.

We can’t wait to see this car (Finally) in the flesh!

Ahh I might as well call today Toyobaru day since I have another FT86 article coming up the pipeline shortly. Our good friends at Wrecked Magazine got tipped off that Papadakis Racing (Tanner Fousts’ car builder) has already received a FT86!

Word from some reliable sources has it that Papadakis Racing (team owner of Tanner Foust’s Scion tC) has a new Scion FT-86  in it’s possession. We have also been told it might already be caged! We revealed 10 days ago a caged Scion tC that we are certain will be his 2011 Formula Drift car. Judging by the rumored release dates of this Scion FT-86 it appears that Tanner and Steph could be building a 2012 car already to start testing and make this thing a contender in 2012.

Could a production ready version already be out for teams to use? Could it be that they’re ready to release these cars? Could Subaru of America send us one to build? (wink wink).

This may be one of two things, a leaked logo of the new Toyobaru “FT-86” or just a clever viral marketing by Toyota. Either way, this brings a lot into the light for the up coming Toyota / Subaru coupe.

Has a bit of the Super Hero look to it which I dig (BoxerMan? 86Boy? 86BoxerAvenger?). If we get more info on this, you’ll find it on Subie-life.com!

The sound is  a little hard to hear but it’s good to get some insight to the Impreza Concept. Enjoy!

Well, kinda. It’s a great new way to really get the audience interactive with the video and this is one of the best things to come out in a long time.

This video allows you to choose different angles of a 2011 STi Rally car. Now, it’s not exactly live switching but it gives you multiple angles of a rally car going through a hairy stage.

We hope that more racing teams see the advantage of this and start following this style of video.

We’ve been invited by the good people over at Loyola Marymount to display our Subarus on Campus at Noon!

Unlike some manufacturers out there, Subaru really wants their owners to be sporting their gear. The cool thing is that a lot of their gear is actually really nice!

I mean how many auto manufacturers can say that they have Oakley Sunglasses with an STi logo? Well, for an STi logo, yeah, Subaru but check it out!!!!!

Do you want to check out more gear like this? Check it out here!

There have been two polarized sides to people’s view on Subaru’s designs. Some saying that their awkward angles are beautiful and some saying that they’re hideous. Since their new campaign for their 2013 Impreza, their designs have changed to sleeker, more subtle designs.

The good people at Motor Trend have commented that Subaru is beginning to “reinvent” itself through innovative designs and engineering. Motor Trend commented as saying:

Emotional phrasing aside, we think that these two designs — especially the new signature grille and headlight combination — are right on the money and help transport Subaru out of the “dull and boring” basket, and into the “pay attention” category.

This comment is towards their designs for the FT-86 Concept (which we are still waiting on the official name of) and the Impreza / Legacy Models.
